About Me

I grew up just south of Leduc in Wetaskiwin, and am very grateful to the family, friends coaches, and teachers that have contributed to help shape the opportunities I’ve had in my life.

In academic pursuits I am proud to say that I achieved honors from high school, Bachelor of Science and my Doctorate of Chiropractic.  While maintaining academic excellence, I was a three sport collegiate athlete in soccer, hockey, and rugby and worked part time jobs to help pay my way through school. The smartest thing I have done though, is marry my loving wife and business partner Trina Baynes.

Trina and I met while attending graduate school in the U.S. and started our business in Leduc in 2007, happily serving this community through business and volunteering. I have been a proud citizen of Leduc for 16 years and a local business owner for 18 years. We built our business in Leduc even before moving here because we saw it as a place we not only wanted to live but also believed our future kids would want to call home. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always work out the way we hope, and we were unable to have children, so instead we continued to invest in our extended family—the Leduc Community!

Fostered from a young age by my parents, I have always had a heart to serve others. I grew up in a family that had little, but it never felt that way. Giving back was part of our family. Although we couldn’t often give financially, we gave back to the organizations and communities that helped us by volunteering our time. We volunteered at our local food bank, cleaned the church we attended, and helped wherever we could.

During our 18 years in Leduc, my wife and I have actively served and supported a wide range of nonprofit and local organizations dedicating countless hours to volunteering and contributing to our community. This experience will serve me well on City Council.

My involvement spans numerous organizations and roles, including:

  • 25 years with Boys and Girls Club (18 years in Leduc and 7 in Wetaskiwin prior to that), including 8 years as President and 5 years as Vice President.

  • 14 years volunteering as team trainer and team doctor for the Leduc Riggers.

  • 6 years running Toasty Toes and Underclothes, collecting underwear and socks for our unhoused population.

  • 2 years with City Life Youth as a youth leader.

  • 5 years at the Leduc County Christmas Lights.

  • 6 years running a soccer team in the Adult Coed Soccer League.

  • 10 years volunteering for the Black Gold Rodeo Association.

These opportunities have given me a deep understanding of our community’s needs, challenges, and strengths. The knowledge and skills I’ve gained are priceless, and I am excited to bring this experience with me as I serve on Leduc City Council.

Together with my professional and academic background, these experiences make me a strong candidate to represent you. I look forward to taking everything I’ve learned over the past 18 years and continuing my community service at the next level.

Experience and Vision for Change

My goal is to listen to the needs of our citizens and respond on their behalf. Below you will find my current platform of what I think are important issues currently, but I encourage you to continue to provide  your feedback so I can make sure the most important issues are being addressed.  Also Check out my blog at the bottom of the page to see upcoming issues that are on my radar as I continue to meet with local residents and volunteer groups.

Business Leader

My wife Trina and I started our business in Leduc in 2007. We have successfully grown our business to over 10 employees winning both Small Business of the Year and Large Business of the Year. In 2021 we outgrew our existing space and purchased our own commercial space. We have mentored numerous local professionals strengthening our local health services.

Our success in Leduc has not only been professionally but also in our not for profit work.  In 2008 I joined the Leduc Boys and Girls Club where I was named President as there was nobody else willing to do the job.  Trina and I quickly moved The Boys and Girls Club of Leduc  from a position of folding to a position of excellence.  During our time we helped move the club from an old outdated house to the LRC, restructure the governance and support staff to improve outcomes in order to increase the value to our community.

After 17 years working with the Boys and Girls Club of Leduc I can confidently say that they are in the best position they have ever been.

My experience volunteering on several not for profit boards has provided extensive business experience including leadership, management, financials + budgeting, policies and procedures and so much more.
